Office with a work colleague is hard to avoid some contradictions between the occurrence of the saying goes, “see the rise of bow not see”, with the contradictions always feel uncomfortable, then how can your enemy then? Please keep in mind here the following:

1, the courage to admit their wrong if:

Not always afraid to admit their wrong thinking that people will look down upon themselves. In fact, the real ability of people the courage to admit his wrong if the.

Even if your colleagues did not way to express this meaning may make you happy to jump on the other side of the right view, you should be prepared to admit. No, this does not imply that whenever there is over-aggressive colleague you attack, you must surrender. But you should first consider that the words of the other information contained in, not the speaker. And you should strive to treat you get an objective opinion, even if such views are not objective in a particular way of expression. Moreover, there is a little secret to keep in mind: admit you are wrong, often can bring benefits to each other to shut up. This is an amazing silent classic method of manufacture.

2, the interest of others to note:

To let each other in love with you, and are willing to be your friend, the best way is to pay attention to his interest.

3, on the issue of threatening not to ignore:

Sometimes we hear someone threatening problem, “Do you think you are?” “You Can not that the high school to teach you something something?” “What you’ve never heard of no contingency plan you? “These issues and their numerous variants are simply not asked what information they have lost only to make your mind stable. Do not bring emotion to answer them?? Simply do not answer them. Simply to pretend that they simply did not forked from your mouth to colleagues, you simply return to your topic: What you feel (rather than what it is)? You plan to do? And you want to do? In this way, you do not give your colleagues the opportunity to curse you, it is possible to reduce his (her) problem on this type of threat dependence.

4, let the other know how much you need him:

This is very important, it can transfer to a large extent from each other’s enthusiasm. Of course, you really need, that is another matter. Our idea is to use such an acceptance, raise each other’s self-esteem, the other a happy, to prevent intensification of the conversation, minimize or eliminate future hostile resentment. You mentioned a couple of their work, they need your colleagues to provide advice or guidance. If you must further identify these areas, your colleagues probably will not be too opposed.

Five “no” to deal with office relationships

Work in times of difficulties, disgruntled are of no avail, to have a positive attitude, focus on good things. Know your goal in life, mission and long-term plan, a list of achievements and access to your personal interests, when you doubt, it will be used to for reference. And have a positive ideal of human husbandry, to avoid asking those “why” questions, will focus on work, learn open-minded.

One who can not pay with those simple words deep

First came to the company, can chat to communicate with colleagues, to narrow the distance between them. But there is a person, just to know you soon from them their own difficulties and resentment of a child old brain talk to you. These people at first glance is impressive, but he may also talk to anyone you do not have much in his mind the weight.

2, a movie star “who rap” is not very good friend Generally speaking, those who love non-

Flyover, will be as non-persons. Such people like to rack their brains all day to explore the privacy of others, complaining about the staff is not good, the boss having an affair and so on. Tongues of people may provoke you and friendship among colleagues, and colleagues when you really untoward, he was standing on the sidelines, watch the fun, and even applauded. May also encourage you and your boss fight. He asks you to say bad things about boss, but he tampered with these words reached the ears of their superiors, if supervisors do not see the truth behind, then you are in the company of a tough time ahead.

3 and stir up trouble with those who should not be

Some over-active, love spread rumors, create a tense atmosphere. “It has to lay off,” “so and so appreciated by their supervisors,” “this month how much money to be made,” “the company’s huge debt,” and so confused panic. If such people said these words to you, remember not believe. Of course, he splashed cold water and do not just perfunctory: “Oh. Is that true?”

Workplace harassment suit, what’s it worth in suit or settlement?

I’m a minority and have been targeted for hostile work place included battery, discrimination, harassment, and finally being laid off after reporting to HR (retaliation). I have multiple witnesses and paper trail leading up to my layoff. I hired an attorney. IF YOU HAVE BEEN THROUGH THIS BEFORE OR IN A VERY SIMILAR CASE, PLEASE TELL ME HOW MUCH YOU WERE ABLE TO RECOVER THROUGH SETTLEMENT OR LAWSUIT.

Answer
Your lawyer will have the best idea as to how damages trend in your jurisdiction.

Unless the company’s actions were super-duper bad, you won’t get punitive damages.

You probably will get damages for what you would have made between the date you were laid off and today, minus any income you have earned from any comparable job you have since got. If you simply refuse to look for a job, the court will find that you have failed to mitigate your damages, so you will still only get ‘wages you would have made at old job minus what you could have made if you had got a similar job.”

If you are looking for a windfall, good luck, because you’ll need it. Civil law is to make the injured party (you) whole (i.e. put you in the same financial position you would have been in if the injury had never occurred), not to reward the injured party. While punishing the defendant is one aspect of civil law (via punitive damages), it is only imposed for egregious abuse.

Prescription drugs, notably some antidepressants and OTC drugs, are frequently abused. These drugs can cause serious performance and safety issues. A good drug and alcohol screening system can prevent any workplace problems.

It should be understood that the term “prescription drugs” refers to the class of drugs dispensed by a Chemist. It does not mean that drugs have necessarily been obtained legitimately on prescription. Some people do abuse prescription drugs they get from their doctors, but others obtain prescription drugs through the black market or by fraudulently approaching doctors.

In all cases, problems are exacerbated by the fact that abuse may relate to a very wide possible range of drugs. A standard drug and alcohol test is the first step to identifying and dealing with the problems. The health effects of prescription drug abuse can be severe. None of these drugs should be be called “recreational” when misused.

All of them are potentially very dangerous. Many prescription drugs are classified as poisons, and they can do serious damage to anyone who takes excessive doses. Some drugs like anti depressants are a particularly risky class of prescription drug to abuse. They can trigger serious psychological episodes, including psychotic attacks and suicides. There can also be catastrophic effects when some are mixed with Alcohol.

The visible effects of prescription drugs abuse

The effects of prescription drugs abuse can be all too obvious. Managers are advised to consider the sensitivities of other staff members in severe episodes. In some instances, emergency medical assistance may be required.

The effects of serious prescription drug abuse include:

Loss of control of bodily functions
Tremors, spasmodic movements
Apparent lack of self control
Vomiting
Collapse or unconsciousness
Frightening, odd behavior

Work related indicators of prescription drugs abuse

There are several typical indicators of abuse which can be observed through the workplace:

Behavioral and coordination issues

Behavioral indicators can be strong indicators of a drug abuse problem. The most common signs are:

Surprisingly foolish, stupid behavior and incidents
Thefts in the workplace
Withdrawn, hostile, or uncommunicative behavior where these are unusual traits.
Deteriorating, unhealthy personal appearance
Odd smells
Secretive behavior

Productivity signs

Work performance is a very reliable indicator of problems. Common issues related to drug abuse include:

High rate of uncharacteristic errors
Very inconsistent work performance with marked deteriorations in quality of work
Lack of productivity resulting in backlogs and bad management of workloads
Frequent complaints from other staff regarding performance of tasks and standards of work

Aggression, mood swings, emotional overreactions

The nature of many drugs often results in behavioral changes which are reliable indicators of abuse. Some of the psychological effects of prescription drug abuse are shocking and appalling.

Typical psychological effects include:

Aggression: An irrational, antagonistic mentality with no obvious cause.

Mood swings: These can be a bewildering range of moods from tearful to high spirited to distinctly unfriendly, in a matter of minutes

Emotional overreactions: Disproportionate reactions to situations, positive or negative, sometimes embarrassing.

should a ‘victim’ make a distinction between a sexually hostile environment and insecurity?

having pictures of hot semi nude girls on a calender
talking about other females in the office like how hot they are
convening a business meeting at a hooters restaurant.

women say that the above things contribute to a sexually hostile environment in the workplace and the men doing these are guilty of sexual harassment. laws too reflect the same.

im not defender of these things, they are UNPROFESSIONAL anways. but my point is that there is a high possibility that a woman who claims to be a victim of such sexual harassment, may actually be feeling insecure rather than sexually harassed.

if i put myself in the shoes of a secreteary and i have a female boss who convenes a business meeting at a strip clubs where males strip i will definetly get uncomfortable. i empathiize with women here. BUT my discomfort is actually due to the insecurity that hot young muscular males are stripping naked and all the women are checking them out. i would feel insecure because of that NOT BECAUSE i am feeling threatened sexually….there is a difference.

same goes for having images of hot young women in workplace and men talking about female colleagues that have UPSET a woman or two resulting in SEXUAL HARASSMENT CASES

Answer
I think that sexual harassment has definitely gotten too carried away. I wouldn’t feel threatened in either environment, but I could see how someone would be uncomfortable, but not enough to file a lawsuit.

Someone’s lookin’ at dollar signs…not feeling threatened.

There was a time when most people took a job out of high school or college and fully expected to stay in that job for the rest of their life. We all know that those days are over and the average American will go through over a dozen jobs and at least two different career changes during their adult life. What this means to an employee is that they are faced with a variety of people with their own way of working, their own personal problems, and sometimes a great deal of unpleasantness. Hostile work environment laws are there to protect you from some unscrupulous bosses (and co-workers), and you need to be aware of what your rights are.

When people think enacting hostile work environment laws to work on their behalf, they usually think of them only in terms of sexual harassment, but that is only one type of harassment. In fact, most people in the work place are subject to a hostile work environment that doesn’t necessarily include any sexual connotations.

For instance, we have all had a boss who, for one reason or another, didn’t like us. Maybe it was our hair color or the type of sandwich that we brought for lunch each day. It doesn’t really matter the reason, but if you are targeted by a boss and you find your work environment to be indeed hostile – which means that you are either being forced to quit or are being threatened with termination – then you need to learn about the hostile work environment laws that are out there to protect you.

No one deserves to be picked on at work, made to feel unworthy, or treated differently than any other person. You should not be intimidated, frightened, or feel threatened in any way. If you do, then you are working in a hostile situation.

Of course, there is also the issue of sexual harassment. Most people think of this in terms of a male boss “hitting on” a female employee, but it can be so much more than that. “Quid pro quo” harassment is when your success in your job is determined by how much you give in to the harasser. It may not be a blatant exchange of sexual favors for a raise – it could just be putting up with his behavior in exchange for not getting fired.

With all types of harassment, hostile work environment laws require that you document every instance of harassment – the date, the time, the place, and the witnesses – in order to state your case in the future. It is rare that these types of cases actually go to court because it is much cheaper (and less shameful) for a company to pay off an employee than to go through the entire legal process, defending the harasser. But, the more information you have on your side, the stronger your case will be when you present it to the powers that be.

No one should ever tolerate harassment in the work place, and if you are feeling that you are working in a hostile work environment, then do something about it.

Yesterday you left work as upset as ever. You skipped work all together today. You are so mad at your boss. How dare he talk to you as if you were his secretary? You worked hard for your Master’s Degree. What makes the guys any better than you? Nothing! That’s right. Absolutely nothing! You may not be calm enough to realize it yet but you have fallen victim to a hostile environment workplace. We all deal with the values we grew up with in different ways. Sometimes a person becomes a manager who hasn’t realized just how ingrained in their behavior the values they grew up with are. Not all of those values are appropriate in today’s work environment.

Sexual harassment still raises its ugly head regularly. It manifests itself in many different ways. You can get along with everyone you work with perfectly and suddenly a situation arises that turns your company into a hostile environment workplace. Luckily, in an isolated case like this, the situation can be worked out. Once you realize the manager is so ignorant of his behavior, he has no idea why you aren’t at work, you can calm down and figure out how to let him know what he did and that it ruins the workplace atmosphere for you.

There are about 1000 books currently in print dealing with workplace harassment. One of them is bound to have some tips as to how to approach this issue. It is a lot easier than the stories you hear from Susan. Her boss screams at everyone. Talk about a hostile environment workplace. No one likes working in her department. You are calming down. You search the world wide web for the best way to deal with your problem.

In the process you stumble across a website that states, “If you learn what’s in “Work Laws Exposed” your boss knows that he or she won’t be able to single you out for harassment anymore. Your boss knows that he or she won’t be able to control you with yelling, or nit-picking or threats anymore. “
This sounds like the right solution for both of you. She could transform her hostile environment workplace into the kind of workplace you normally find yourself in. “Work Laws Exposed” can be found at Undercover Lawyer.

The site offers to teach you three strategies to protect yourself from being fired by a boss who has turned your job into a hostile environment workplace, how to keep your job without having to work with your abusive boss, a legal method to use to defeat unwarranted discipline and many other methods to help protect your job. Laura from Ohio writes, “all I can say is I read the entire book, and did step by step what chapter 3 outlined. The reactions were as you stated.” If you want to learn more about employment law and your rights as an employee, this may be the right book for you.

Hostile Workplace (in Colorado)?

What would be considered a hostile work place? Currently there are several things I suspect would be considered hostile but am not certain: Work-related emails are deleted without being read, resulting in my not being able to do my job. Reporting to management has resulted in nothing. I am restricted from internet use though no one else is. I am the only person not allowed to have my personal cell phone on during the work day. The boss told me he thinks I am “two clicks away from the intelligence of a stone”.

The primary problem I have with this is that I am being singled out even though I have been told other employees are doing the same things, and far more than I ever did- I actually can prove I do more work, and take more calls, than my co-workers, but I am the one who causes all the problems. It is very frustrating.

Can these situations be considered hostile and what would my options be when considering filing suit for hostile workplace?

Thanks.

Answer
